James G Lasry

James has been a member of the Gibraltar Philharmonic Society committee since 2008 and chairman since September 2009. An avid music lover, James studied the violin in New York where he grew up and he went on to play in student orchestras through high school and at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland.
After realising that it would be unlikely for him to make a living out of music, he took up literature and law at Bar-Ilan University Ramat-Gan, Israel, all the while continuing to play in amateur orchestras and chamber groups.
James works at Hassans International Law Firm where he is a partner and heads the funds team. A figure of note in Gibraltar’s funds industry, James serves as chairman of the Gibraltar Funds and Investments Association and he is also a member of the Gibraltar Finance Centre Council.
James is fluent in English, French, Spanish and Hebrew and he still manages to pick up the violin from time to time.
