Clarinet Recital - Romain Guyot & Yuki Nakajima Perform in Gibraltar

Monday 8th October 2007 will see the welcome return to Gibraltar of Romain Guyot after his short yet amazing performance in December of 2006. The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society and the Bonita Trust have joined forces once more and are proud to present this, the first official concert of the 2007-08 Season where clarinetist Romain Guyot will be accompanied by his personal piano accompanist Yuki Nakajima at The Convent Ballroom commencing at 8:30pm.

Works to be performed will include Camille Saint-Saens’ “Clarinet Sonata in E-flat major, Op 167”; Andre Messager’s “Solo de Concours” and George Gershwin’s “Three Jazz Preludes” amongst other notable composers and their works.

Ms Nakajima was born in Kyoto, Japan and she received her first piano lesson at the age of four whilst at the mere age of twelve she performed a concerto with an orchestra in Osaka. Throughout her piano studies she has received lessons and master classes from Etsuko Ichida, Masako Nakajima, Miyoko Yamane Goldberg, Seiko Seki, Pierre Pontier and Jean-François Heisser and has received many awards whilst doing so.

At present, Ms Nakajima carries out extensive concert activities while filling a role as accompanist at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, and at Académie de Musique  Française de Kyoto where  she  has  so far collaborated with the classes of Regis Pasquier (Vl), Gerard Jarry (Vl) and Maurice Bourgue (Ob).

Tickets for the recital priced at 15 pounds each are available from Sacarello’s Coffee Co. in Irish Town and Solomon Levy Estate Agents in Convent Place. Credit/debit card purchase is also available by phoning the Society on 72134. A limited number of tickets are also available to Senior Citizens at a reduced price via The John Mackintosh Hall at 308 Main Street.
