Oboe Recital - Alexei Ogrintchouk

The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society continues its 2008-09 season with a concert on 30th March 2009 at The Convent Ballroom commencing at 8:30pm. The concert will feature one of the leading oboists in the world, Alexei Ogrintchouk, together with pianist Lidija Bizjak. The concert is sponsored by the Gaggero Foundation and Jyske Bank.

Alexei Ogrintchouk

Our Artistic Director Karel Mark Chichon has described Mr Ogrintchouk as  “one of the most outstanding oboists performing today, Alexei Ogrintchouk’s virtuosity, passion and technically outstanding performances have been capturing audiences around the world and finally we are happy to welcome him in Gibraltar for the very first time. There are only two oboists in the world who currently are sought-after as soloists as much as they are as orchestral principal players - one of them is Albrecht Mayer (who is the principal oboe of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra and who performed in Gibraltar last season) and the other is Mr Ogrintchouk who combines a  busy solo schedule with his permanent position as principal oboe of the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam. I am delighted that we have been able to lure them both to performing in Gibraltar since there are simply no better oboists in the world.”

Tickets priced at £20 each are now available from The House of Sacarello in Irish Town and The Silver Shop at 275 Main Street. Credit/debit card purchase is also available by phoning the Society on 20072134.
