Clarinet recital
The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society concludes its 2008-09 Season with a Clarinet recital at the Convent Ballroom on Thursday 25th June at 9.00 p.m. The last concert of the Society’s season is the one in which, traditionally, Maestro Karel Mark Chichon outlines his plans for the next season. This concert will also mark the retirement of our Chairman, Ian M Angus.
The concert is sponsored by the Bonita Trust and the repertoire will include works by Robert Schumann and FrédéricChopin amongst others.
The recital will feature the well known clarinetist, Ints Dalderis who will be accompanied on piano by a young and enthusiastic pianist Anton Lyakhovskiy.

A society spokesman said: “This recital is a special event in many ways. We have two very interesting performers. Piano virtuoso Mr Lyakhovskiy has studied at the Special Music High School for Gifted Children (affiliated to the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory) and at a young age performed extensively across Europe and America.
Our soloist for the night, Mr Dalderis, has not only performed in many of the worlds most important venues such as Royal Albert Hall in London, Berlin Philharmonie, Festspielhaus in Salzburg, to mention a few, but he has also recently become Latvia’s Minister for Culture. The Society feels honoured to attract such high caliber artists and I am absolutely sure this concert promises a splendid evening.”
Tickets priced at 20 pounds each are now available from The House of Sacarello in Irish Town and The Silver Shop at 275 Main Street. Credit/debit card purchase is also available by phoning the Society on 20072134. A limited number of tickets are also available to Senior Citizens at a reduced price via The John Mackintosh Hall at 308 Main Street.
