Opera at the Cave
The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society proudly presents a night of Operatic arias, duets and popular songs at St Michael’s Cave on 1st June 2009 at 8.30 pm. The concert is sponsored by PartyGaming and Jyske bank.
Following the success of previous year’s opera concerts at the St Michael’s Cave, the society has invited back internationally renowned tenor Valter Borin from Teatro Alla Scala in Milan and a soprano making headlines in musical circles at present, Stefanna Kybalova , from Arena di Verona. They will both be accompanied by Mr Diego Corvetti on piano, who is from Teatro Alla Scala in Milan.
A society spokesman said: “Once again our artistic director, Karel Mark Chichon, has secured for the Gibraltar the services of very exciting soloists. We have the pleasure of welcoming back one of our audiences all time favourite performers, Valter Borin, who will perform in Gibraltar already for the fourth time! He will be joined by upcoming soprano Stefanna Kybalova who makes her second appearance in Gibraltar. This concert will mark the first appearance in the rock for Diego Crovetti, who is not only a gifted pianist but also a conductor in much demand. Return visits of such a high caliber artists is clearly a testament that Gibraltar is capable to offer excellent concert venues and an appreciative musical loving audience. The music being performed on the night will be essential Italian - what better exponents of this music than top singers from Italy itself who understand this music from their roots and their upbringing in the same country where opera is part of daily life.”
The ticket will also entitle you to a return shuttle service departing from Ince’s Hall as from 7.30pm but please note that as always, this will be used by the general public and may involve queuing.
Tickets priced at 20 pounds each are now available from The House of Sacarello in Irish Town and The Silver Shop at 275 Main Street. Credit/debit card purchase is also available by phoning the Society on 20072134. A limited number of tickets are also available to Senior Citizens at a reduced price via The John Mackintosh Hall at 308 Main Street.
