Christmas in Gibraltar

The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society is presenting its traditional Christmas Concert on the 10th December at the Sacred Heart Parish Church commencing at 8:30pm. The concert will feature three international operatic soloists who will perform a variety of repertoire.

In particular, the Gibraltar Philharmonic Society is proud to announce the participation of eminent Baritone Paul Armin Edlemann, who will sing in the famous Christmas in Vienna concert just days after the Gibraltar concert.

The programme of music to be performed will in fact be very similar to the famous "Christmas in Vienna" concert that will be held on 22 December in Vienna in where our local Maestro Karel Mark Chichon will conduct. In so doing, Gibraltar will be able to have a first-hand opportunity to savour the spirit of Christmas in the grand manner in which Vienna will celebrate it on 22 December.

The Society’s Artistic Director, Karel Mark Chichon commented "I am delighted to be able to present to the Gibraltarian public a "preview" of the Christmas in the Vienna concert with such important operatic names as Ms Kybalova, Mr Borin and Mr Edelmann and I am equally thrilled to be able to perform music that is truly Christmas-like in spirit, combined with much-loved and popular works that the local audiences have associated with our popular Christmas concerts and which are frequently requested for us to perform. In many ways, conducting the Christmas in Vienna concert gives me the opportunity to offer it also to our local audience. This is why we have decided to call this concert – “Christmas in Gibraltar".

Tickets priced at 12 pounds each are now available from The House of Sacarello in Irish Town and Solomon Levy Estate Agents in Convent Place.
