Charity Concert FETE DE L’ESCALADE

The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society in association with Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch is proud to present Charity Concert FETE DE L’ESCALADE – The Gibraltar Philharmonic Society’s 10th Anniversary Concert on 16 December 2008 at the St. Michael’s Cave commencing at 8:30pm.

The concert will feature one of the leading mezzo-sopranos in the world Elina Garanča together with rising  soprano  Elena Groshunova from the Mariinsky Theatre. They will be joined by the European Sinfonietta conducted by Maestro Karel Mark Chichon, who performs in Gibraltar fresh from his acclaimed success at the Vienna State Opera where he conducted the Vienna Philharmonic.  The Programme will include works from Haydn, Mozart, Verdi and Bellini.

The young mezzo-soprano Elina Garanča has quickly established herself as one of the music world’s newest stars through her performances with leading opera theatres and symphony orchestras around the world and she is no stranger to Gibraltar’s music lovers. However soprano Elena Gorshunova,  one of the leading  soloists at the Mariinsky Theatre  and who is becoming a favourite amongst audiences in Europe, this performance will  mark  her debut in Gibraltar.

All the income from tickets sales will support local charities that will be announced by A. V. Stagnetto QC on behalf of the Board of Charity Commissioners and all the concert expenses are kindly covered by Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch.

Tickets priced at 50 pounds each are now available from The House of Sacarello in Irish Town and The Silver Shop at 275 Main Street. Credit/debit card purchase is also available by phoning the Society on 20072134. A limited number of tickets are also available to Senior Citizens at a reduced price via The John Mackintosh Hall at 308 Main Street.

A limited return bus shuttle service will be available from Ince’s Hall as from 19:30pm.
